Joost The Boost was looking sharp in Scotland, during the 3rd round of the World Cup Four Cross. Made it into the final quit easy, and taking 2nd place behind Jared Graves in front of 8000 spectators.
Slavik went down pretty hard in the semi final, stuggling with Prokop on the second straight. In the small final Slavik took 6th place and earned well deserved points for the team.
Jurg Meijer was back on his old speed again. We a 7th place in qualification and a 8th place in the race the “PartyMeijer” is back!
The winner of the last World Cup in Maribor, Michal Marosi, could not pull it off in Fort William. After being ill on thursday and friday he missed some power on saterday.
Race report:
1/16 finals
No big suprises in this first round. Marosi had troubles with Beckeman but he passed him on the finishline. The other R.S.P. members and the other favourites got through quit easily.
1/8 finals
Some big names were against each other in this round. Slavik and Marosi were up against Prokop. Marosi got eliminated. Dutchman Meijer was on fire in Fort William. He won his heat, before Gracia. Wichman did well, but Lewis Lacey almost suprised him.
1/4 finals
The big suprise was that Graves didn't cross the finishline in first place. A flat tire caused him some trouble but he managed to stay in second place. Slavik had to deal with Rinderknecht and Prokop, another difficult heat, but he did well, second behind Prokop. Rinderknecht out. Wichman had a good start, Meijer followed well and they eliminated Gracia.
1/2 finals
Wichman, Meijer, Saladini and Mechura. Nice line-up. Joost had a good run, Meijer too but he made a little mistake and lost a lot of speed. Wichman and Saladini through. Impressive comeback from the Frenchman, after his injury. In the other semi Slavik crashed, right after the first turn. Graves and Prokop made it to the final.
Final
The first straight of the Fort William track had proven his importance throughout the day. Graves and Wichman were elbow to elbow, but managed to stay on their bikes. Wichman however had to hold back, taking the first turn in third position. But he showed his tactical skills later on, passing Prokop unexpectedly. Second place was the best he could do.
