WC 6 Windham: Slavik 3th, Wichman 4th

29-08-2010

The finals were fun to watch. A cool track, gutsy moves and some slamming crashes. It was very dry making it difficult for the riders to see what happened in front of them. It was a real mountainbike-track, we even saw competitions on full suspension bikes.

R.S.P. won the World Cup Overall for teams! Slavik took second place overall, Wichman third. World Champ Jared Graves won, just like last year.

1/8 finals
Graves and Marosi managed to leave Beaumont and Seidel behind them. A difficult first heat. Joost, who got injured during practice, won his heat quit easy as did Slavik. Rinderknecht went out in that one. Fischbach, 3th in qualifications, went down and out in the rocksection. Meijer wasn't happy with this track but he tried hard and managed to get throught to the 1/4 finals.

1/4 finals
Marosi had another difficult ride against Graves, Polc and Derbier. He didn't made it. Wichman had a great start but unclipped his pedal and got in trouble in the rocksection. Cousinie passed him but he managed to stay in second place. Slavik had a good start as well and no trouble getting to the finishline in first position. R.S.P. rider Meijer went out, Tatarkovic and the Columbian Oquendo Zabala were faster.

1/2 finals
Wichman was up against Graves and two fast Frenchmen, Cousinie and Derbier. He had a good start, a nice first turn but then something went wrong. Maybe it was his injury but he dropped to 4th place and it seemed to be over and out. But the Frenchmen took each other out and Joost, lucky bastard, managed to finish second. Slavik showed skills on the gate, again, and without difficulties he won his heat.

Final
Another great move by Joost in the final. He got the lead in the first turn but couldn't maintain it. In second place he hit a flag after the rocksection and crashed. Slavik got in second place but on the big doubles Prokop had more speed, leaving him in third position.
